TIGNES
STAGE 19
126.5 km - 26 JULY 2019
“In Tignes: a full summer of sport at over 2000m”

In this Haute Tarentaise village spread across three eagle’s nests (Le Lavachet, Le Lac, Val-Claret), the summertime is packed with sporting activities. Wild swimming, yoga, trail running, climbing, horse riding... Not to mention summer skiing on the pistes of the Grande Motte glacier.

In August every year, the resort holds its traditional Fête du Lac (in Tignes le Lac), with a programme of daytime events (paddle boarding races, boules tournaments) leading up to a larger-than-life fireworks display.

DINNER IS SERVED!

Woodland vibes in a Michelin-starred restaurant!

Found inside the Suites hotel, the URSUS restaurant offers a unique dining experience. Clément Bouvier, a Michelin-starred chef and lover of woodland, brought the name of his restaurant back from his adventures (Ursus is the last species of brown bear in Savoie), along with an amazing decor. Inside, no fewer than 380 trees immerse diners in a captivating decor where they can savour authentic, masterful cuisine. The dishes unfurl with a sense of wonder.

GO CULTURAL

The Esseillon Forts in Haute-Maurienne

90 minutes from Chambery, the Esseillon Forts are a defensive barrier of five fortifications built in the 19th century to protect the Kingdom of Sardinia from a French invasion. Lying between Aussois and Avrieux, the forts can be reached by the same trails used to build them, which are dotted with information panels. It’s a great 4 hour walk!
