Hauts-de-France and the 14-18 Centennial

Hauts-de-France Region, major scene of the conflicts of the last two World Wars, is an important destination for French and foreign tourists who come to learn, understand and commemorate in more than 50 memorial sites in the territory (2,2 million visitors in 2016).

Memory tourism is one of the main reasons for the arrival of Canadians in Hauts-de-France, specifically to gather on the graves of their ancestors and especially in the last 4 years for the occasion of the Centennial events.
Among the most emblematic sites, the Vimy Interpretation Center welcomed 220,000 visitors in 2017.
