One to watch: Alexandra Stréliski, pianist

Explore France met the pianist, composer and performer Alexandra Stréliski, who shared with us her impressions on France, her second home, and her memorable experiences.

"Paris is like a second home"

Alexandra Stréliski (External link) is a pianist, composer and performer born in Montreal to a father from Angers in Loire Valley in France and a mother from Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. She maintains strong ties with France, having lived on both sides of the Atlantic when she was younger. Nowadays, she is often called upon to travel to France for tours or to join her family and friends. We have met a natural, sensitive, endearing woman who is dedicated to creating her own music that capture the human spirit and tell stories that words cannot express properly.

"When we are gonna be able to go back to France, I'm gonna be especially excited to see my family and my friends again...I'm also looking forward to the little things like a glass of Chardonnay and a terrace, some good food and charcuterie platters. All these good things that the French do so well!"

First heard on the album Pianoscope, released in 2010, her music was revealed to the general public through the film Dallas Buyers Club (2013) and its appearance at the Oscars ceremony in 2014. In 2018, Alexandra releases her second album Inscape. After winning "Instrumental Album of the year" at the Juno Awards in June 2020, Inscape is now certified platinum in Canada. Awards and praise continue for the pianist who also won the prestigious "Female Performer of the Year" at the 42nd edition of the Gala de l'ADISQ in 2020.
