Since 2014, Air France has entrusted the wine and champagne lists on its entire network, in all cabins, to Paolo Basso – world’s best sommelier in 2013 - in collaboration with Thierry Desseauve and Michel Bettane. These three experts have certainly created one of the finest wine and champagne lists in the sky.
A shower of medals for Air France
In February 2018, Air France received seven awards, including two gold medals at the prestigious 2017 Business Traveller Cellars in the Sky Awards for the quality of its wines and champagnes. Air France's excellent track record, competing with 31 other airlines, is the recognition of its relentless efforts to offer one of the finest wine and spirit lists in the sky.
The company also received the award for "2018 Best Wine Selection for an Airline" and was awarded with "Trois Verres" for its selection of wines in the La Première cabin and "Deux Verres" for its selection of wines in the Business cabin in "China's Wine List 2018".
The finest bottles served on board
Every year Air France serves 800,000 bottles of wine in the La Première and Business cabins and 750,000 bottles of Champagne, including in Economy. All the wines and spirits chosen to be served on board are selected according to their ability to adapt to the constraints and the particular environment of air transport, particularly the dry air and cabin pressure which alters the perception of taste.
