The Route du Rhum - destination: Guadeloupe, from Saint-Malo to Point-à-Pitre

On Sunday, November 4th 2018, the 11th edition of the most iconic transatlantic single-handed race will start from Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.
The Route du Rhum will celebrate its 40 year anniversary.

Head for Point-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe! On Sunday, November 4th 2018, they will be a hundred of skippers taking the start for the 40-year anniversary of the Route du Rhum on an unchanged route since its origins in 1978. Against the backdrop of the Mont-Saint-Michel, there will be six classes of multihulls and monohulls on the start line off the Breton haunt of corsairs.

The ultimate category with the giants of the seas will compete next to the 60-foot Imoca monohulls and their round the wolrd skippers, the Multi 50 now equipped with foilds or the Class40 with professional or amateur skippers. What an amazing show!

A 3542-mile race

Every 4 years the Route du Rhum keeps its promises. From Saint-Malo in Brittany to Guadeloupe, it brings together the best skippers for a thrilling 3542-mile race.

From the Mike Birch's success on his little yellow trimaran for the first edition to the Loïck Peyron's breathtaking arrival on his giant multihull for the 10th edition in 2014 (with the crossing record with a time of 7 days 15 hours 08 minutes and 32 seconds), through the Florence Arthaud's win in 1990, the Route du Rhum continue to engrave spectators' memory.

2018 edition will continue in this vein. For a tonic foretaste, reach the 130,000 square foot event's village on the Saint-Malo's banks from October 24th and enjoy events, entertainments, meetings, visits and nautical parades.
