Lyon Biennale

It’s one of France’s most important contemporary art events. Running until 7 January 2018, the 14th Lyon Biennale will be structured around the word ‘modern’. Four main highlights: Floating worlds, Rendez-vous, Veduta and Résonnances… Let yourself go.

Ever since the inception of the Lyon Biennale in 1991, its Director Thierry Raspail has invited each guest curator to focus on a given word for three successive events. So the Lyon Biennale 2017 is the second chapter in a trilogy on the word ‘modern’. Emma Lavigne, Director of the Pompidou Centre in Metz, and guest curator, has split this 14th Biennale across three locations: La Sucrière, MAC Lyon and Le Dôme. Walking trails link the works presented in three venues. No one would be amazed to find the suspended sculptures of Alexander Calder in the Floating Worlds art space, for example.
