The Month of Climats in Burgundy

Strolls through the vines, chats with winegrowers, shows, tastings—for one month, the Climats are celebrating in Burgundy. Take advantage of the opportunity to discover this peculiar area and its unique craft.

Every year, the end of spring is synonymous with celebration at the Climats. These vine plots, which have been carefully marked out and named, are one of the distinctive features of the Burgundy region. Numbering 1,247, they bear witness of the link between the earth and the wine it produces from Dijon, south of Beaune.
During the Month of Climats, several events are held in the different towns and areas of the Climats: you can go on a bike ride through the vines at nightfall, you can rush from one puzzle to another in the streets of Vosne-Romanée, you can discover the wine-growing history of Dijon while traveling with your family.

Among our favorites from this 2019 edition, the “Vineyard Drone” augmented-reality animation proposes several dates at different places in Gevrey-Chambertin or Nuits-Saint-Georges, while the Bouchard Père & Fils house is organizing a large picnic in Beaune for June 16. On the agenda: refreshment stalls, walks in the gardens and gourmet stalls, everything in a musical and friendly atmosphere.

Foodies can also enjoy a gourmet walk in Nuits-Saint-Georges that has been scheduled for June 23. They will meet again on June 30, at the Brunch of Climats in Les Halles, Dijon.
On July 6, we will celebrate the 4th anniversary of the inscription of the Climats on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, a time for a day of animation at the heart of the town of Cheilly-Lès-Maranges, which will be enclosed by a giant picnic and a concert.

A "Burgundian exception"

Created in 2016 to celebrate the first anniversary of the UNESCO’s inscription, the Month of Climats allows you to discover the land through a program concocted by its inhabitants, its wine growers and its businesses for a total immersion in this "Burgundian exception."
