In New Aquitaine, the vine has been a queen since almost always, and the reputation of the wines of Bordeaux is well established. But did you know that we also have wine in the bay of Saint-Jean-de Luz near Biarritz?
Enthusiast since childhood by wine, Emmanuel Poirmeur becomes agronomist and oenologist. After his studies, he went to Argentina to develop a wine analysis machine. There, he also works on sparkling wines made in vats. In 2007, he returned to the Basque Country with the idea of doing the same thing again, but under the sea!
This is how he creates a range of wines made under the ocean. The fermentations are carried out in vats in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, at 15m depth. This pioneering and extraordinary winemaking method reveals aromas that would not develop otherwise than by this underwater process.
To savor this extraordinary wine, go to the cellars in Socoa for a discovery visit - from Thursday to Saturday by reservation.
Enjoy your getaway in the Basque Country to discover the seaside town of Biarritz, the only European city to have the double palmares of "most beautiful beaches of Europe" and "Best romantic destination "!
