Unusual accommodation in French resort

For your holidays and weekends in the mountains in France, why not opt for an original stay of one or more nights in an unusual place. Whether you are a nature lover, an adventurer or romantic, have a magical time in nomad accommodation at the foot of the mountains, in a bubble, a trapper’s cabin, a Mongolian yurt, a tepee, an igloo…just for two or as a family.

In a typica Lapland Kota

Set off on a journey to the heart of “Scandinavian Ariège” on the Beille plateau in the Pyrenées, at 1800 m high. The Angaka village is made up of Nordic kota huts (typical wooden chalets from Finnish Lapland). Other accommodation options include trappers’ cabins, Mongolian yurts and tepees, so everyone will find the lodgings to suit them, heated by a wood burner of course.Would-be trappers will love experiencing the Great North adventure!

In a Finnish Barrel

For a total change of scenery all year round in Auvergne, 7 km from the Lioran resort, you can sleep in a 4.5 metre-long Finnish barrel house for two people complete with a dining area. You can enjoy the sauna, which is also in a barrel!

Mountains in a Bubble

Have you ever dreamed of living in a bubble? The resort of Combloux (Haute-Savoie) offers the chance of sleeping in an immense transparent bubble, facing the majestic Mont Blanc chain, back at the edge of the forest. You will go to sleep watching the stars or snowflakes, from your comfortable 160 cm bed. You can even organise a romantic dinner with your own chef.

Perched in a Tree House

In the middle of Scots pines, beech, ash and majestic fir trees, six tree houses have been built in the Vosges, near the resort of Gérardmer. The six tree houses at the Nids des Vosges (Vosges Nests) are designed for couples and families up to 6 people. The luxury is having running water, an inside shower and an exclusive area for children.Extraordinary nights await you in these cosy nests, full of charm, in the middle of the forest.

Nomad spirit in a Gypsy Caravan

The nomad spirit is blowing at the Loges du Coinchet near the resort of Les Rousses in the Jura. Get away from it all in colourful, authentic gypsy caravans - onefor the dining area and another for sleeping (up to 4 people). You can also discover their tree houses and trappers’ cabins for enchanted nights at the edge of the forest.

Snuggled in Igloos

The latest winter trend is the igloo village. The most surprising is situated at the foot of the Meije Glacier in the Hautes-Alpes, at 3200m high (access by cable car). The comfortable igloo is equipped with mattresses, quilts and lighting. After starry dreams, head back down on ungroomed slopes. At La Plagne in Savoie, you are welcomed to the Igloo camp by a warm drink. You can eat a hearty local meal in the Igloo restaurant before spending an unforgettable night in a dormitory or private igloo.
