How to reach France's best Festivals in 2016 charleville fr

France, world renowned for its mount-watering cuisine, fine wine, art, fashion and all things stylish, is also a destination for festivals.

While gastronomical festivals are pretty much a given in all major cities, towns and villages across the country, art and music festivals are also very popular among the locals and visitors.

One such festival is the Carcassonne Festival, which takes place in the extremely well preserved fortified medieval city of Carcassonne, south of the country. The festival offers a fantastic mix of music, theatre and dance within the walls of the city's historic buildings including the Grand Théâtre and Basilique Saint-Nazaire. As one of the country’s top 10 biggest festivals, welcoming about 200,000 annually, this year’s 10th anniversary celebration will no doubt be a treat to those attending. International artists including Pharrell Williams, Scorpions and Mika will join local French artists in keeping their fans entertained via 120 shows across 12 stages around the city throughout the month of July. Carcassone is a leisurely 6.30hours train ride from Paris. There is also a night train that takes 10.50mins, so to save on a nights’ accommodation, this might work out to be a better option. For tickets and more information on the festival head to

Another interesting festival, which occurs every two years in September, is the World Puppet Theatre Festival. Taking place in the town of Charleville-Mézières in the Champagne-Ardennes region of France, 250 troupes from around the world perform 200+ shows over 10 days to about 150,000 spectators. Visitors will see every sort of puppet created from glove and string marionettes to shadow puppets and the latest puppetry innovations. It is whimsical, it is visually engaging and essentially, it is a
feast for the imagination. The next festival will take place in 2017. Charleville-Mézières is a 2.13 train ride from Paris and the journey goes
via the beautiful art-deco city of Reims.
