Christmas at Chambord 2019

From 1 December 2019 to 5 January 2020, the magic of Christmas takes hold of the Chateau de Chambord. Between the firs, decorations in Renaissance colours, fairy lights and musical events, we can experience this jewel of the Loire Valley through a child’s eyes.

For the seventh consecutive year, Chambord is celebrating Christmas with enchanting scenery and varied entertainment, starting with the main visitor trail adorned with decorations in Renaissance colours to celebrate the chateau’s 500th anniversary. Lucky visitors will even be able to meet the musicians and costumed dancers from the Outre Mesure troupe, or even attend a horn concert given by the Trompes de l’École de Chambord.

Christmas trees galore

On the second floor, in the arms of the cross surrounding the double spiral staircase, you can enjoy the ‘Sapins de Génie’ exhibition and competition, with trees designed by brands chosen for their particular expertise. Visitors are invited to vote for their favourite tree.

At the edge of the chateau at dusk, fairy lights illuminate the French-style formal garden, while the north facade glows brightly.

The festive programme promises to keep children busy too, with storytelling, colouring and animations of the chateau’s natural environment, not forgetting the traditional meeting with Santa Claus.

Finally, the exhibition ‘Discovering Francis I’ plunges you into the heart of the life of this emblematic Renaissance ruler.
