Loire Valley

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000,the Loire Valley dazzles, not only with its historical and architectural heritage but also with its preserved nature. Dive into history by visiting one of the 21 emblematic castles and enjoy the magic of Christmas during the month of December. Take a stroll in the gardens, embark on a traditional Loire boat and discover the fauna and flora of its wild river. Pedal on the 800km of cycle route right next to the Loire, walk through the vineyards and enjoy a glass of wine… In the Loire Valley, you will be treated like kings and queens!

  • 2017:A cultural season dedicated to the «Gardens of the Loire Valley»
  • March 2017: inauguration of the new contemporary art center CCC OD in Tours (the Olivier Debré Contemporary Creation Center) + contemporary art exhibitions at the Regional Domain of the Chaumont-sur-Loire during the whole season
  • May 2017: Vitiloire Festival in Tours – outdoor festival with more than 140 vine makers from the Loire Valley
  • Summer & Christmas 2017 : castle illuminations (candles, by night, sound & light show…)
  • September 2017 (every 2 years) in Orléans: Loire river Festival, Europe's largest gathering of river transport vessels
  • From spring to fall: the guinguettes along the Loire
  • Cycling in Loire Valley : « La Loire à Vélo » itinerary with its 800km and more than 3400 km of other itineraries thoughout the region
