Rencontres Musicales de Vézelay
For 12 years, the Rencontres Musicales de Vézelay have been a famous musical festival of sacred vocal music.
From 23th to 26th of August, nine concerts will be performed in the UNESCO world heritage city of Vézelay, Burgundy. The medieval village of Vézelay is renowned by its Sainte Marie-Madeleine Basilica, which is located in the “eternal hilltop”. Every year, the festival attracts pilgrims, music lovers and tourists.
The 13th edition’s principal theme is choral sonorities; so that, the invited artists, considered as the best ones in Europe, will celebrate the voice. Let’s meet Arsys Bourgogne, L’Ensemble La Fenice, Les Talens Lyriques, Doulce Mémoire, Die Singphoniker, Tapiola’s Finnish children chorus, Thomas Bauer and Jos van Immerseel for a magical and memorable encounter.
Last but not least, the Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion masterpiece will be performed for the first time in Vézelay ! It will be conducted by Pierre Cao and performed by Talens Lyriques and Arsys Bourgogne at 8 pm, on Saturday, 25th.
