"Montparnasse/Saint-Germain-des-Prés: post-war abstractions" in Bordeaux
In the second half of the 19th century, with the impressionists, the gesture, the track, the color became some formal and visible signs on the paintings. At the beginning of the 20th century, these signs gave rise to the abstraction movement.
The exhibition "Montparnasse/Saint-Germain-des-Prés" in the Fine Arts Museum of Bordeaux is illustrating this period, by showing works of major artists of the post-war abstraction: Olivier Debré, Jean Le Moal, Alfred Manessier, André Marfaing, Gérard Schneider and Geer Van Velde.
The content of the exhibition is however well beyond. Indeed, the selected works do not limit themselves in immediate to the post-war years or the fifties; they punctuate the route of these artists and underline their evolution during the years which followed.
Every day from 11am to 6pm except on Tuesdays and public holidays.
Commented visits on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 4pm.
