The Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc
The Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc celebrates its 10th anniversary!
The Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc is the toughest international sled dog race in the world. Each year since 2004, it brings together 20 of the world's best mushers. They travel 1,000 km throughout 9 stages through Savoie and Haute Savoie and climb over 30,000 metres with 300 exceptional Alaskan and Siberian Huskies.
With some of the world's finest dog-sledding teams, entertainment and a festive atmosphere, the 2014 edition will begin on January 11th in Samoëns, in the Grand Massif Ski Area. It will end on January 22nd in Haute Maurienne Vanoise.
Two activity-filled weeks
Mulled wine, tartiflettes, campfires, trapper village, themed exhibits and other activities are offered at the 22 ski resorts taking part in La Grande Odyssée.
Not to be missed are an introduction to dog sledding, igloo building, and trapper workshops for all visitors!
A show accessible to the public
The largest possible number of access points have been planned along the itinerary so that spectators can get as close to the action as possible, all the while in the middle of nature.
The public can also watch the mushers' progress from screens at each of the resorts or online at the Grande Odysée's official website.
