Christmas Markets in and around Lille
Lille
From 18 November to 30 December 2015
Located right in the heart of the city, Lille’s Christmas market consists of more than 80 stalls open seven days a week. Artisans and stallholders come from around the region and further afield, with participants from other regions in France, as well as Russia, Poland, Canada and Germany, offering a selection of attractive and original presents (local produce, Christmas decorations, jewellery, mulled wine, waffles, gingerbread, wooden objects etc).
Various activities and entertainment are organised during the market, such as visits to see Father Christmas, mini concerts, children’s face-painting sessions, and readings of Christmas stories.
Arras
From 27 November to 24 December 2015
Once again this year the Christmas Market at Arras will be illuminated by thousands of lights. The covered passageways and stalls will be decorated with strings of fairy lights, giving a magical glow to the Christmas village in its magnificent setting of the main square. The ice rink, big wheel, carrousel, and of course Father Christmas himself all add to the fairytale atmosphere which sets the scene for a magical Christmas. Nestling in a veritable forest of Christmas trees, the splendid Grand’Place is the perfect location for this delightful Christmas village.
Béthune
From 28 November to 31 December 2015
Situated on the Grand'Place, Béthune’s Christmas Market offers numerous activities and tastings, as well as an ice rink with a toboggan run (new this year).
Douai
From 27 November to 24 December 2015
Nearly 40 exhibitors take part in the traditional market in Douai with its Christmas decorations, arts and crafts, and food and drink. Father Christmas is of course the guest of honour, bearing presents galore, and the Big Wheel will once again be set up on Place d'Armes. Entertainment for children is also organised every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
