The Biennale Internationale du Design Saint-Etienne 2017, 10th Edition
The 2017 Biennale Internationale du Design de Saint-Etienne - the event's 10th edition - will analyze changes and transfers of work.
Over the course of one month, from March 9 to April 9, 2017, the Biennale Internationale de Design de Saint-Étienne will offer a vast panorama of work changes.
The event is based around three main themes: first, the theme of Digital Labor, or how technology is changing our work habits.
The sharing of spaces will pose questions on sharing knowledge in alternative work spaces as compared to traditional enterprises. Also under examination: coworking spaces, a phenomenon slowly becoming more popular, where design plays an intermediary role in the layout and the manner of organizing work in new spaces.
Finally, the question of work fiction will be explored through 2 exhibits offering diverse and surprising scenarios on the conditions of "work of tomorrow."
Detroit in the Spotlight
Three major cultural events will mark the 10th edition of the Biennale Internationale du Design de Saint-Etienne: "The musical scene will also be invested with musicians from the city of Detroit in the United States. A city with a markedly open culture that's in the process of reinventing its forms of work in truly original ways," comments Olivier Peyricot, the event's Commissaire Général.
The biennial event will also invest in the heart of the city. Punctuated with design boutiques, the famous Rue de la République will be rebaptized the "Rue du Design" space for several weeks.
The art of cinematography will also invite about 300 amateur actors to Saint-Etienne to film a movie, due for release in 2018. In its own way, the film will question amateur practices in the contemporary working world.
