Art and the Machine – Exhibition at the Musée des Confluences in Lyon
From 13 October 2015 to 24 January 2016, the exhibition Art and the Machine presents the close relationship between an artist’s view on the machine, and the evolution of industrial technology, from the technical plates of the French Encyclopédie in the 18th Century to the electronic era we live in today.
From the dream of a world saved by technology, to the thwarting of said dream. From an aesthetic fascination with the mechanical object, to the creation of novel and deviant forms. The exhibition reveals the constant links that exist between machines and the plastic arts.
