Château de Preisch Rue des Lilas 57570 Basse-Rentgen fr

At the heart of Lorraine, the region bordering 3 countries, the gateway of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and next to the medieval city Rodemack lies the Château de Preisch.

This Château is a typical example of a 17 th century Renaissance Châteaux. The furniture and objects you can see there were gathered by Charles-Joseph de Gargan, a collector who bought the estate in 1850. He also greatly improved the Chapel Sainte Madeleine, which is now richly decorated and a listed historical monument.

The English garden was created in 1812 in order to highlight the ruins of the old fortified castle, where you can see cast iron footbridges and an ice house. Hampshire sheep graze in the park area.

Botanical and poetical path

At the foot of the trees, you’ll see posts indicating the tree names and species in poem form! Visitors receive maps and park booklets on entry.

Topiary garden

The former vegetable garden has been transformed into an expressionist topiary garden and is now recognised by the EBST (European Boxwood and Topiary Society).

Treasure Hunt

At the Chateau de Preisch, fairies are not myths! They have always lived under the mossy rocks of the forest. Unfortunately no one has seen any of them for years. The little magical creatures, with green skin and silver wings are the guardians of Preisch forest and its river. We want you to help us find the precious flower with the power to make fairies return to Chateau de Preisch…

Lots of events are organised throughout the year such as: Easter egg hunts, “visites passion”,  and markets for arts and crafts and local produce. The Château, its park and chapel are open every weekend and on public holidays.
