The Goûter Hut 74170 Saint-Gervais-les-Bains fr

Formerly outdated and out of touch with modern techniques for environmentally-friendly construction, the Goûter Hut (Refuge du Goûter), sitting at an altitude of 3,835 meters, has been replaced by a new structure integrating HQE (High Environmental Quality) standards.

It belongs to a new generation of buildings that use advanced energy technologies (including solar and thermal power, photovoltaics and water treatment) and high environmental quality targets to ensure independent energy sourcing.

Its surprising egg-shaped architecture was designed to withstand average sustained winds of 240 km/h, as well as for its aesthetic properties.

The highest maintained hut of its kind in France, the Goûter Hut sits at the summit of the Aiguille du Goûter along the ascenting route towards Mont Blanc.

This new hut has a maximum capacity of 120 divided into two levels, each with 60 beds. As before its renovations, the hut's most breathtaking views can be seen from the dining room.

The Goûter Hut is maintained by a permanent staff, welcoming guests to stop for a hot meal before tackling Europe's tallest mountain.
